In October 2015 I was approached by BBC Worldwide after participating in a live debate about the benefits of YouTube and online video platforms in broadcast. After continuing to stay in contact over the next month, I was commissioned to bring to life the new Lego Ideas set based around the hit BBC TV show Doctor Who. I was requested to create a 7 minute video featuring the Lego 12th Doctor and Christel, the host of the Dr Who Fan show, who both interviewed the creator of the set, Andrew Clark.
Having only 2 weeks to turn around the film from start to finish, I took on the task of producing custom minifigures (thank you to minifigs.me once again – a complete life saver!), building an early production model of the set, then shooting the project within one single week. The video was released on the 1st of December on the Doctor Who Facebook page and gained over 100,000 views on its opening week.
This project was challenging to work on because I had to accurately represent the product. I was not allowed to in anyway modify the set or figures and had to stick to a strict shot list.
